Brain Injury Housing Programs
In 2011, the Campbell River Head Injury Support Society created a Brain Injury specific housing program. We found there was a huge gap in housing when it came to our members, in being able to find suitable, affordable and safe housing! Since then the program has grown, there are now 2 separate programs under the one umbrella: Independence Housing Program This program consists of four apartments up top our office and programing space. An apartment consists of a bachelor style space, with kitchen and bathroom. A few of our units do have stoves and a few are for clients who rely on others for cooking needs. We have staff on during the evening that provides a dinner program and support. Each client is assessed and a specific program is then created for them. There is a 3 year max stay with us and our goal is to have our clients re-housed and living independently. We work with everyone on a case to case basis to get them back on track and independent within the community. Some of ther services our staff offer to clients in the Independence Housing Program are:
This program has 2 different streams of funding, one through us, CRHISS, and one through Island Health Brain Injury Program. Each require a different application process, to ask us how you can meet the criteria contact CRHISS or Island Health Brain Injury Program. Long Term Independent Housing We have a second set of apartments that serve as a long term housing project. These apartments are for individuals who are completely independent, but just need that little bit of support. If you are interested in getting on the waitlist please email us for more information!
